My grandchildren used to love this little kung fu hamster. In time, the toy became physically unrepairable so I thought I'd build a virtual version.
Kind of like Disney's animatronic bear, except in 3D space. It took me years, but I learned a lot. Here's a short video showing two animations.
Note how the Cowboy animation moves in time to the detected tempo of the ambient audio - a unique effect I haven't seen anywhere else.
Trouble is, within the last two years 'AI' has appeared out of nowhere and, in my opinion, obviated many aspects of software development.
While the term 'Artificial' is harmless enough when referring to prosthetic limbs or coffee sweeteners, there is nothing artificial about 'AI'.
Instead, humanity has created a home-grown, yet alien intelligence that we naively assume can be unplugged if it gets too uppity? Uh...
Even if we adopt the cautionary term 'Alien Intelligence' for AI, there's too much money sloshing around to ever tap the brakes on it.
So, I'm out. To quote the late Douglas Adams (whom I met once at his book signing in 1987): "So long, and thanks for all the fish".
